Jeni Sandberg is an independent dealer, appraiser and consultant in 20th-century decorative arts and design, with particular expertise in eCommerce. Selling privately as well as on 1stdibs and Etsy, she has handled numerous important collections and objects and continues to work with collectors and institutions.
Previously, Jeni spent nine years as vice president at Christie's, first as a senior specialist in the 20th-Century Decorative Art & Design department, then as the Head of Online Design Sales, managing international eCommerce for the Design department. She contributed to multi-million dollar auctions and concentrated on American decorative arts including the glass and lamps of Tiffany Studios, American furniture, textiles, glass, ceramics and other objects.
Prior to joining Christie's, Jeni was the director of American Furniture & Decorative Arts at Doyle New York. She was also a research assistant in the American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and worked on a major exhibition of the arts in New York in the 19th century.
For nearly a decade, Jeni appeared as a featured appraiser on WGBH’s Antiques Roadshow, appraising hundreds of objects in cities around the country.
Jeni holds a bachelor's degree from New York University, a master's degree in architectural history from the University of Virginia, and a master's degree in the history of decorative arts from The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum/Parsons School of Design.
Jeni has contributed to a number of design publications such as The Magazine Antiques, as well as the blog on Etsy, and lectures widely on a variety of topics. In addition, she works with art directors and stylists to source design objects for use in films, television shows, and magazines. She also designs needlepoint, both custom work that is fully executed, and painted canvases that can be worked by stitchers.
