Vintage Dansk Copper Saucepan, circa 1960 - Medium Quart
Vintage Dansk copper covered saucepan with brass handles, in the medium -quart size (model 1305). This is Jens Quistgaard's take on the classic French copper pot, with elegantly curved side and lid handles and tin-lined interior. Made in Portugal, this line was made only for a very short time around 1960-61.
This pot appears to be unused and retains its original lacquered finish. It is important that the lacquer be removed with acetone before use. See care instructions in last two images.
Measures about 3 inches high to top of pot (a bit higher with lid handle), 7 3/4 inches diameter across mouth of pot. Marked on underside of handles and on edge of lid.
Overall condition is good. Apparently never used, the pot and lid show some light overall wear, with some surface scratches, many of which I think will prove to be mainly in the lacquered surface and may be minimized once the lacquer is removed. The lid has a shallow dent under the handle, which does not show up on the inside of the lid. The previous owner vigorously taped the lid to the pot—there may be a little remaining adhesive residue, but again, I think this will come off with use. Minor wear to the tinned interior.
The last images show the full line of Quistgaard's copper--this pot is the medium size in the flatter pots. For more information of Quistgaard's Copper, click here:
