Vintage Dansk Copper Saucepan, circa 1960 - Small 1 Quart
Vintage Dansk copper covered saucepan with brass handles, in the small 1-quart size (model 1301). This is Jens Quistgaard's take on the classic French copper pot, with elegantly curved side and lid handles and tin-lined interior. Made in Portugal, this line was made only for a very short time around 1960-61.
This pot appears to retain its original lacquered finish, at least in part (I assume this because the pot is not tarnished). It is important that the lacquer be removed with acetone before use. See care instructions in the last image (hard copy is not included).
Measures about 2 1/2 inches high to top of pot (a bit higher with lid handle), 6 3/8 inches diameter across mouth of pot. Unmarked, with partial Dansk foil label on underside of pot.
Overall condition is good, but the finish does show spotting and scratches. I would guess that the lacquered finish has not been removed, which has led to some of the finish issues—some of this may be minimized once the lacquer is removed. Some scratches visible on the lid (looks like over scrubbing, again, this may just be to the lacquer), dark spots on the lid and handles. Minor adhesive residue from an old sticker on the bottom of the pot. Minor wear and dirt to the tinned interior.
The next-to-last image shows the full line of Quistgaard's copper--this pot is the smallest size of the flatter pots. For more information of Quistgaard's Copper, click here:
