Two Dansk Fjord Steak Knives, Made In Germany, circa 1959
Two Dansk Fjord Steak Knives, Made In Germany, circa 1959
Two Dansk teak-handled stainless steel steak knives in the Fjord pattern, designed by Jens Quistgaard in 1954. A mid-century classic, this pattern is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Early production made in Germany, late 1950s.
Each measures 8 1/4 inches long.
Overall condition of each knife is very good. Some minor wear to the stainless steel, with some minor spotting to one. Natural variation in the color and figure of the teak handle. There is no splitting or losses to the teak, and the join is tight and secure. The plug at the end of the each handle is present with minor corrosion (white stuff) around the perimeter. If you would like additional images or info, please let me know--I've handled a lot of Dansk and I am very picky about condition!
This flatware is NOT safe for use in dishwashers. I recommend rubbing the wood handles with a food-safe oil once or twice a year to keep them in top form.
