Dansk Pao Rosa Cutting Board - Rare Woods
Dansk Pao Rosa Cutting Board - Rare Woods
Large cutting board and serving tray designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk, made in pao rosa (a South American hardwood) for the Rare Woods line produced in the early 1960s, model 1652. The staved end-grain center section (end-grain is hard, durable and ideal for cutting, like butcher block) is flanked by slightly dished outer areas. This makes it great for workaday chopping as well as for use as a cheese board when entertaining.
Measures about 17 3/8 inches by 12 inches, the center section is about 9 1/4 by 5 7/8 inches. Faint branded mark on reverse, made in Denmark, 1960s.
Overall condition is good, with some knife marks on the cutting surface and other minor wear. I have recently oiled this piece. Recommended care: wash with gentle soap and water (don't soak), rub with food safe oil about once a year to keep teak in good shape.
