Early Dansk Fjord Flatware Service for 6 - Teak Wood Handle 48-Piece Set, 1950s
Dansk teak-handled stainless steel flatware in the Fjord pattern, designed by Jens Quistgaard in 1954. A mid-century classic, this pattern is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Early production made in Germany, late 1950s.
The set comprises:
6 dinner knives
6 steak knives
6 dinner forks
6 salad/luncheon forks
6 tablespoons
12 teaspoons
6 butter spreaders
There are 48 pieces total. All pieces are marked Dansk Designs Germany, with the four ducks mark. The tablespoons are still in their original box, wrapped in the original tissue paper. Similarly, the butter spreaders retain their original box and one is still in the tissue paper, and there is a box for six of the teaspoons.
Overall condition is very good, with many of the pieces showing little to no wear. Some very minor wear to the stainless steel, mainly on the forks, with some minor scuffing to the knife blades and a very slight bend at the tip of one of the steak knives. Natural variation in the color and figure of the teak handles--one of the dinner knives has some openness along the figure of the grain. All plugs are present, with some minor wear. There is no splitting or losses to the teak, and the joins are tight and secure.
I have another set of six place setting and serving pieces in the Fjord pattern. Please be in touch if you are interested.
