Early Nanna Ditzel Teak Ring Armchair for Kold Savvaerk, Designed 1958

$0.00

This mid-century Danish upholstered armchair was designed by Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) for Kold Savvaerk in 1958 and was called a Pølsestol, or sausage chair (it is also called a ring chair). Working with her husband Jørgen through the 1940s and 1950s, Nanna later went on to design jewelry, textiles and tableware and experimented with many different materials. The board at the bottom of the seat is marked 'Made in Denmark' with other indistinct marks.

This chair has been recently reupholstered in a Kvadrat's Hallingdal fabric, which was designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1968 and has been in constant production ever since. The plain-weave, black and white (color number 166) fabric is 70% wool, 30% viscose.

Overall condition is good, with some wear, scratches and dents to the wood frame; some evidence of previous upholstery work visible at joins of seat and legs; small, tight crack visible at top of one front stile where it meets the arm.

H 24.5 in. x W 32 in. x D 25 in. Seat height 14 inches.
