Vintage Dansk Linen Placemats by Ritva Puotila - Finnish Accent 1960s
Vintage Dansk Linen Placemats by Ritva Puotila - Finnish Accent 1960s
Set of four linen placemats designed by Ritva Puotila for Dansk. The plain weave linen is shot, meaning that the warp and weft are different colors to create an optical color—here, the warp is red throughout, and the weft is orange and switches to blue, which creates deep orange and purple. The heavy linen has a nubbly texture throughout.
Ritva Puotila designed linens for Dansk from 1963 up to the close of the 20th century. These placemats are from the earliest years of her production with the company, when Dansk advertised the ‘Finnish Accent’ tagline.
Each placemat measures about 13 x 18 inches. Dansk label sewn to one hemmed end.
Overall condition is very good, with no stains or holes. Natural variation to the linen.
The last images show other Dansk items and another set of placemats available in my shop.
